I am a software professional who has been in the computer industry for many years. I have performed software testing on a variety of applications and provided quality assurance on even more software development projects.

I began using computers in college where, like many people, I was afraid of the computer because it usually ate my homework. I worked in the accounting computer lab and would tell the students, "I don't know any more than you do!" Over the years, that has changed.

In 1992 I began working for a software company in Utah as a software tester — basically playing with the computer and breaking the software. That experience gave me real confidence in what computers can do. Seeing the whole software development life-cycle and working with developers to improve software is key for understanding how the end user interacts with it. I moved into quality assurance in 1995, then relocated to Reston, VA in 1999 and continued working in the DC area in software testing, QA, and customer support.

My dream has always been to live life on my own terms. I now have the skills to venture out as an entrepreneur. Building confidence in using the computer is my main focus — through Basic Computer Training, Computer Cleanup Services, and Computer Technical Services.

In April 2004 I launched my "Basic Computer Training for Women" business. Having deep knowledge of how software is built and what standards guide most applications gives me a unique ability to explain why things work the way they do — not just how to click through them. That makes all the difference when training someone who is just getting started.
